Quick Start Guide

To help with getting started, we have created a guide to assist with what might be a good way to start in the Outer Reaches universe. This guide will aim towards getting ship and weapon factories producing as quickly as possible, while also keeping the research and bulding construction running constantly. While you have a little bit of all resources to begin with, the Planet Management Module (P.M.M) will only produce 3 of them each time the game system ticks, they are Silica, Aluminium and Uranium. You should try to start extracting the others as soon as possible to build up a supply ready to use.

Note : This guide does NOT make use of the queues, so feel free to queue items that you are able to during this start guide.

STAGE 1 (Research & Buildings)

Begin by starting some research in the Command Center pull down menu - Research & Developement. There are 3 available to begin with, they are Mass Extraction, Ground Warfare and Power Sources. You can see which ones you can do because they will look like this *Queue*. This shows that you have the correct number and type of Research Center built on a planet. Start with Mass Extraction as the first item of research, this will take 4 hours to complete.

As well as doing some research, you will need to build research centers to open up more research options. In the Planets menu, you can either click the B (quick link to the Building Manager section of the planet) or click the set of coordinates to take you to the Planet Manager screen and then select Buildings from the left hand menu. Start by building a Science research center, this will also take 4 hours to complete.

While you are waiting for the first bit of Research and the first Building to finish, take a bit of time to look around the game and see what options are where. This will help you to get used to things a little bit quicker, looking through the tech tree and manual pages might also be a good idea. Things are not really as complicated as it may seem to begin with.

STAGE 2 (Research & Buildings)

Once your first item of Research and Building has finished, you will have a couple more items available to research. By doing Mass Extraction you have opened up all of the extractor research. Only 2 of them can be researched at this point, thanks to the Science Research Center you built on your planet at the start. They are Silica Extraction and Aluminuim Extraction. Again you will notice they have a * on either end of the Queue link.

You should now have 4 items in total available to research, they are Ground Warfare, Power Sources, Silica Extraction and Aluminium Extraction.

Any of these 4 items can be researched, but at this point Silica Extraction is recommended, this will take another 4 hours to finish.

Now we go back to the Building Manager on your planet to start building the next Research Center. Put a Building Research Center on to build, this will take 4 hours to finish.

STAGE 3 (Research & Buildings)

Now that Silica Extraction research is complete, you will see a new building (Silica Extractor) available in the Building Manager on your planet. Another new item of research should now also be available because a Building Research Center has been constructed, the new research is Uranium Extraction. Now start the next research, Aluminium Extraction, this will take another 4 hours to complete.

The next building to do is a Technology Research Center, again it will take 4 hours to do so everything will finish at the same time for now.

STAGE 4 (Research & Buildings)

Aluminium Extraction research is now finished and again a new building (Aluminium Extractor) is now available to build on your planet(s). For now, it does not need to be done.
